Spiritual War in Japan

Finally, I came across the best books to learn spiritual warfare: THE BONDAGE BREAKER and VICTORY OVER THE DARKNESS.

The books are not written by a scholar who has no war experience. The author Neil Anderson is a battle-hardened Christian scholar in the spiritual warfare of American society.

If Satan and his demons can deceive us into believing a lie, they can exert some control over our lives with disastrous results. Any lie we believe, regardless of its source, will have a negative effect on how we live.

Fighting against the invisible enemy is a lonely task. Virtually, all people have no idea of what the freedom fighter is doing. Some Churches and the mental health communities are even hostile to his ministries.

Hi questions to ponder:

1. What evidence from Scripture do we have that shows Satan is capable of putting thoughts in our minds?
2. How can believing lies have a negative impact on our personal lives, our marriages, our families and our ministries?
3. Why do you think the Western Church readily accepts the diagnosis and explanation of secular psychology and psychiatry and struggles to believe what Scripture teaches about spiritual deception?

Neil is warning Christians against Satan’s schemes of making us act on the demonic lies, which we believe are our own thoughts. His claim is consistent with the Bible.

Don’t let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powers of this world, rather than from Christ. (Colossians 2:8)

He identifies the personality and individuality of evil spirits, such as 1) demons can exist outside or inside humans, 2) they are able to communicate, 3) they remember and make plans, 4) they are able to evaluate and make decisions, and so on.

But you need not fear Satan and his demons as long as you cling to God’s truth. His only weapon is deception. (Bondage Breaker, p118)

I agree with his descriptions on the reality of evil spirits. I myself discovered that Japanese demons have the same characteristics as American demons.

Neil Anderson is fighting for the freedom of Christians. I respect this Christ-centered Christian deeply.
